Fear the sun arising
Yet longing for its glow
Oh star, light the horizon
And upon me please bestow

From ashes into ashes
Let my fate become the same
I feel the mourning piercing
On the maiden with no name

I will not have a gravestone
Casket I have already felt
The amber falls like snowflakes
And like winter I will melt

To many I have cursed
With my thirst without an end
I cannot hide in shadows
Any more, so now descend

No more will I be silent
Now end in morning glory
Raw and numbing is my downfall
The epilogue of my story

Fear the sun arising
It is burning, let it come
End my ways and end my days
Now… Lamia Letum

A vampire's suicide, huh?
That's pretty damned good.
Have you ever read any of Charles De Lint's stories? There's a few that mention vampires, and his take on it is pretty different from the stereotypes. I think there are two or three stories involving them in his book Waifs and Strays, and it's pretty humorously explained. Judging from some of your works I'd say that you'd probably like his stories.
I love how easily this flows. I think the first, fourth and last paragraphs are my favorites. Although, I do have one question. What does Lamia Letum mean?

Oddly, enough, the entire time I read this, the only question I had was whether you came up with the words Lamia Letum before or after finishing writing. I'm going to go on the assumption that you came up with it first.

Now, with that aside, I'm only going to comment on how much I love two lines.

"Fear the sun arising
It is burning, let it come"

That is what I call the, "Oh damn, he just said that" moment. That's a good thing, a turning point. Touché.

I don't get it.

Basically, Latin doesn't have words for suicide or vampire that are accurate, so it basically means "death" of the "cursed creature"

Yeah, I came up with it before. Thanks for the comment.

And so we'll dance through this parade,
Only half wanting to live the charade
For none among us would be so brave
As to destroy the Masquerade
